European Economist - Analyst / Associate - Paris

We are seeking an economist to join the European team in the Global Economics team in Paris. The economist will be responsible for: i) doing regular statistical, financial and macro analysis of the European economy; ii) communicating with internal and external clients. The Team:

The European Economics Research team at Bank of America is consistently top-ranked (in Extel/II surveys). The team is spread across Europe: London, Paris, Madrid, and Milan. Our Europe economists have experience in central banking and/or government. Given the relevance of policy and political issues in understanding European macro dynamics, this experience helps the team to timely identify major challenges for investors. Members routinely engage with global institutional clients, helping BofA establish thought leadership in European economics.

Role Description:

We are seeking an economist to join the European team in the Global Economics team in Paris. The economist will be responsible for: i) doing regular statistical, financial and macro analysis of the European economy; ii) communicating with internal and external clients. The environment can be particularly demanding sometimes, making an ability to deliver under pressure essential.

Responsibilities:

1.       Produce regular reports analysing European macroeconomic developments and their impact on a broad range of asset classes

2.       Building quantitative frameworks to elaborate forecasts and thematic research

3.       Marketing the ideas and output from the research to institutional clients

4.       Engaging in proprietary projects with special emphasis on developing complex macro models

5.       Supporting internal stakeholders across the firm

6.    Developing close relationships with policymakers in the region

Skills that will help:

• PhD in economics although candidates with an MsC and very strong econometrics backgrounds would be considered
• Strong quantitative skills with ample knowledge of the most common statistical packages
• Proven experience on statistical/econometric work
• Creative thinking and exceptional analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Capable of working effectively both independently and with multiple teams/individuals
• Previous experience conducting research in a financial or public institution would be an advantage, though not a necessity.
• Outstanding English language written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in French, German, Italian or Spanish not a prerequisite but an advantage.
